We have started snowing here where I am, still not enough for my snowmachine. Wait a couple more weeks and I'm all set to go, probably start doing the seasonal preps for my snowmachine sometime this week.

yeah we get quite a bit of snow. its usually very hard snow, compacts it self by high winds and cold temps i geuss. we even make igloos out of it but no longer lived in since we all live in building now lol.

SBA800

Being as I love to be on the water I can't stand it, lol. As long as the water and frozen and the ramp aint snowed in I can deal with it though. When it get's into the 20's it starts to get tough for me. Think the coldest I boated in was in the low to mid 20's. There was a time I used to ATV a lot but my area has gotten very populated and many areas are off limits now so it got to expensive for me.

SBA800

yikes thats pretty cold to be out boating!

ive never really gotten into water sports. used to go boating lots, but just never really grabbed my attention as much as snowmobiling has.

nosbusa
10-10-2012, 01:59 PM

SBA800
10-10-2012, 02:05 PM

Yes, and the fuel pumps.

nosbusa
10-15-2012, 07:47 PM
no doubt. still paying $4.65 for gas here now

SBA800
10-15-2012, 09:31 PM
winter will be expensive. sled needs 91 premium.
its sitting at $5.10/gal which is pretty cheap. gas went down a ton recently.

87 used to be around $4.80/gal its now at $4.56/gal
its awesome.

nosbusa
10-15-2012, 09:38 PM
i just hope it goes down more. stupid government taking a shitload of taxes

SBA800
10-15-2012, 09:43 PM
i hope it goes down as well. but i know as soon as it gets real cold, gas is goin up a lot.
cause fools like to idle and the gas companies love that.

i dont even care though. screw it i wanna ride. sat on my sled today after dropping off a can of gas for it. cant freakin wait.

nosbusa
10-15-2012, 09:54 PM
is it open to ride up there? or do you have to go to an ohv rec area?

SBA800
10-15-2012, 09:59 PM
pretty much ride wherever you want, as long as you have permission to ride on private land. they groom trails all over the province, which you need a permit to ride, but other than that, free to roam wherever you please. rivers, lakes, all fair game.
and any crown land is also fair game. pretty much, ride wherever you want. cept the city... they dont like that to much lol

nosbusa
10-15-2012, 10:13 PM
do you speak from experience on that last one? in nevada something like 80% of the land is blm, so if its not fenced in, it free to roam. we did that during the reno raptor run. i would like to do that in the snow as well

SBA800
10-15-2012, 10:40 PM
haha no, but when i lived in the city we had a neighbour that would rip up and down the street. cops showed up and impounded his sled.

and yeah, its awesome being able to roam wherever you want. even on private land where i am its all good since we all know eachother. as long as we stay off the fields with winter crops in its all good.

nosbusa
10-16-2012, 12:34 AM

jaja dont need wheels to ride it in summer. but its bad for the hyfax, it needs to be lubed or it will wear out super fast

See that? I just learn't sumptin new today, never heard that term. I used to make steel ones for my buddy's old sled, that was 20 years ago, chripes i'm getting old....

SBA800
10-16-2012, 11:55 AM
even on some trails, if the lugs on the track are to big it can overheat. need that loose snow to cool it down.

89suburban
10-16-2012, 12:54 PM
Ahh, so it acts as coolant too, even lube.

SBA800
10-16-2012, 02:08 PM
yep. they have what they cal ice scratchers that will toss up snow into the track area for people who have overheating issues. they work great. ill probably grab some for this winter if i plan on riding trails at all.

89suburban
10-16-2012, 03:51 PM
Man these things came a LOOOONNNNGG way since I sat my sorry ass on one, lol. Like 20 years ago I rode on a 600cc one with leaf springs on the front and I think that unit was a 70's model.

SBA800
10-16-2012, 03:56 PM
yep its amazing how far they have come. and the price came with it haha

my old sled i was riding up until last year was a 1983 moto ski. with the leaf spring front like you mentioned. it blew my mind hopping on my new 2012 for the first ride

89suburban
10-16-2012, 05:16 PM
I remember that thing roosting snow and spinning track with two of us on it. :)

SBA800
10-16-2012, 05:40 PM
we had another old one, i think an 82, and it was a beast i tell ya. thing just flew. pin the throttle, and it would spin for a few seconds then take off like a rocket ship once it hit some hardpack

89suburban
10-16-2012, 07:14 PM
This one was a pull start 3 cylinder. None of us ever wanted to start it, lol.

SBA800
10-16-2012, 07:17 PM
i havent ever used a sled with electric start. i coulda had them put it on mine, but its not to bad starting it.

nosbusa
10-17-2012, 01:47 AM
6.2's scrawny little ass yanking on a pull cord............ gotta be a funny sight.....

89suburban
10-17-2012, 11:48 AM
The pull cord on this was actually a metal cable instead of rope and it always broke.

SBA800

I aint scrawny, you noob.

The pull cord on this was actually a metal cable instead of rope and it always broke.

yeah i cant see metal lasting that long in the form of a pull start cord lol.
our old 83 is rope, but the recoil is so screwed up when you pull it, you gotta whack the canister its in to get it to recoil back so you can pull it again.
that thing is soooo messed its not even funny lol

89suburban
10-17-2012, 02:52 PM

SBA800
10-20-2012, 08:36 AM

nosbusa
10-20-2012, 10:58 AM

SBA800
10-20-2012, 11:18 AM

nosbusa
10-20-2012, 11:23 AM
you gotta post some vids of people slidding down the street mashing their brake pedal

SBA800
10-20-2012, 11:38 AM
lol we dont do that here. we dont have drivers that are THAT dumb lol.

nosbusa
10-20-2012, 11:44 AM
damn, i love watching those videos

SBA800
10-20-2012, 11:46 AM
oh me to man. they are hilarious.

nosbusa
10-20-2012, 11:53 AM
its funny watching people keep mashing the brakes while sliding on the ice. like thats going to really help. mash the gas instead you idiot, but i guess its peoples natural reaction to try to stop, rather than go when they are sliding

SBA800
10-20-2012, 11:59 AM
ha yeah they have no idea what they're doing so they panic and stomp on the brakes.

ive never gotten in an accident, or been in panic mode while driving in winter. only went in the ditch once, and was on purpose. people just need to learn how to drive lol

nosbusa
10-20-2012, 12:53 PM
ok, time to watch some ice driving bloopers now, before i leave to visalia

SBA800
10-20-2012, 01:08 PM
ha i spent about an hour watching them. so many of em to

clkelley
10-20-2012, 04:24 PM
Those videos are ALL classics.

SBA800
10-20-2012, 04:28 PM
and you could watch em over and over and still laugh at each and every one

clkelley
10-20-2012, 04:31 PM
sometimes it seems like the more you watch one of'em, the more funny parts you find you missed when watching before. Probably from laughin' too hard...

SBA800
10-20-2012, 04:33 PM
haha yeah thats true. its a great time killer at work lmao. server went down so i cant work.

clkelley
10-20-2012, 04:37 PM
