Picked up a "new" bike tonight; Like the title says it's a 426. I used to have an 01 that I bought new but was forced to sell while I was in the military, so it's nice to have my hands on one again. I got a smokin deal on it for $1000. It's got a HotCams YZ450 cam in it so it's just a kick and go kind of affair with it now, no more decompression lever or anything. Also it's got upgraded suspension from RG3. It feels a bit soft, but I only rode it for a few minutes too.

Anyhow here's some pictures:

Will do, we're going to take the bikes out in a couple of hours to go play for a bit. Hopefully my daughter gets the hang of it and is able to putt around a bit. Tried to convince the wife to come to so she can babysit while i stretch my bike's legs, but she was having none of it.

So far the "fix it" list is pretty short

- New radiator shrouds/number plates, front/rear fenders
- Replace the chain and sprockets
- Put some new grips on
- Set the shock sag and other suspension settings up for me.

not to bad. a couple of small minor mods to do

aarons419
12-09-2012, 09:16 AM
Yep, they all add up to less than one Raptor mod too, that's the funny part. My wife is sold on me modding the dirt bike just on that one point.

lucky you. my wife wont let me do anything

I just switch the hobby that I'm spending money on every time she stops me from spending it on one. So now that the Raptor mod tap has been turned off, I'll just turn on the dirt bike one. Then probably move to snowboarding for a bit before coming back to one of the previous ones.

aarons419

Yup, but I can admit that over here and my wife won't see it.

i am with u bro. raptor is done for a bit until i can save for the big mods i want. so i am doing some cheap mods to the daily and doing a lift and springs on the RZR. i cant quit modding cold turkey.....

Picked up a new set of clutch plates and springs for it yesterday, should be in friday. My clutch is teh suck right now.

I had it out for a few hours yesterday and it ran like a top other than the damned clutch.

I also need a new rear tire as mine is losing air between rides. lol.

small price to pay for the deal you got. i hope thats the only fixing you have to do to it

aarons419
12-17-2012, 10:56 PM
Yeah can't wait to get the clutch in. I'm just going to leave the tire as is for now and probably put two new ones on it when I get home next time.

fix a flat

aarons419
12-18-2012, 10:55 AM
Nope, I won't put that junk in my tires because it just makes the bike shop hate me when its time to change my tire.

Free air at the gas station on the corner is doing the job for now, lol.

nosbusa
12-19-2012, 02:24 AM
well it should be free, considering at 13 mpg your truck has to do all the hauling.......

aarons419
12-19-2012, 10:10 AM
I agree, it's kind of a dick move to charge for air. I will say this for sure, if your gas station has free air, I'm damn sure going to be picking it a lot more than the one up the street that charges me $1 to inflate a dirt bike tire (20-30 seconds of air). So by that simple fact alone I'll probably be buying more gas and more stuff out of the store there.

NickPic83
12-19-2012, 09:39 PM
i agree. i can only think of one place by me that still has free air. all those other bastards charge

aarons419
12-19-2012, 11:26 PM
I remember growing up that every gas station in town had free air. Now it's a rarity.

On topic, my EBC clutch kit comes in Friday so I'll probably install it over the weekend.

nosbusa

and the turbo?

nosbusa
12-20-2012, 02:36 AM
oh yeah, air is expensive....... the reason, supply and demand...... there just isnt enough air for everyone

aarons419
12-20-2012, 09:50 AM
Well with all the oxygen thieves we have in the world today I guess I understand why its expensive.

nosbusa
12-21-2012, 03:12 AM
reminds me of a joke....... probably not appropriate though....... (stereotype, slightly racist)

Just bought a spark arrestor for the bike. It's made by Pro Moto Billet. Much cheaper solution than getting a new muffler. Looks like the install will be pretty easy too.

Here's a pic of what it looks like.

nice cheap fix and it looks cool too

12-28-2012, 09:21 PM
Ok quick pic of the finished product. I really like how it turned out and it was pretty easy to do. I'm going to write it up in a separate thread so it's not buried in case other people actually want to use this same solution.

12-30-2012, 09:22 PM
I ended up staying in and playing Madden 13 all day since it's cold out and didn't want to take my daughter out and get her sick or something, so I haven't even installed it yet, lol.

Slacking I know...

thats one of those that when u finally say damn im tired what time is it and ur like o shit its 3am

aarons419
01-02-2013, 12:27 PM
Yeah no kidding.

Got the bike out yesterday and it works like a champ. Sound really didn't change much, if anything it's slightly quieter, I got some video and it didn't sound all that loud.

I was going to post the video from the jump I found but watching it a minute ago reminded me that everything always feels bigger than it looks on video. I could have swore i was 8' up in the air, but it was more like 4-5, lol.

Found a kick ass place to ride though, it's right next to the Chrysler proving grounds out here. There's an abandoned gravel pit right outside the fence line and it's got a huge flat area for my daughter to ride in and some hills and jumps for me to play on. I've been looking for a spot like that since I moved here.

NickPic83
01-02-2013, 08:18 PM
sounds like a cool spot. nice u and ur daughter can play at the same place

aarons419
01-02-2013, 10:33 PM
Place sketched me out after dark though for some reason, not really sure why. Just got one of those weird feelings. Watch it's a body dump for axe murderers or something, lol

nosbusa
01-03-2013, 01:21 AM
any room for trucks there?

aarons419
01-03-2013, 12:21 PM
Yeah there was, I didn't really scout out stuff for the truck, but there's some large flat spots that'd be fun for drifting, and I"m sure there's some hill climbs and possibly a jump or two for tucks out there.

nosbusa
01-04-2013, 04:56 PM
next time, we should go check it out

aarons419
01-04-2013, 06:53 PM
Yeah I'd be down to do that for sure. I need to get some kind of rack system set up in my truck so that I can take my dirt bike with me when I'm running the Raptor. It's not secure enough in the bed right now.

nosbusa
01-31-2013, 01:20 AM
get a trailer. damn, do i have to do everything for you?

aaron is my bitch

aarons419
02-01-2013, 07:58 AM
Nope, but after I have finished today you'll have lots to do on your own account over here.

Trailer won't work because I want them to be secure when I'm off-road. they're fine on-road.
