so with side by sides it seems that each manufactuerer just keeps upping the ante every year. gone are the days where we see one model last more than a year or two before theres a bigger and badder version available.

this is the Wildcat 1000X.

http://75201b2f3d56bd83ccfd-503f2b362656bf24a39e698b6688813b.r87.cf2.rackcdn.c om/sxs/features/wildcatx/wildcatx-side.png

pretty much takes care of the issues in the 2013 wildcat, more power, better suspension, etc. basically, its the version everyone was hoping for. we hope.....

not cheap though, they start at $18,000. no thanks, not something for me.

thats almost lt for the raptor....... might as well do that..... and you can still drive it on the road. too expensive of a toy to only use on ohv

SBA800
06-09-2013, 12:32 PM
Yeah way to expensive as a toy only.

Unless you use it every weekend all weekend.

SBA800
06-10-2013, 01:10 PM
haha yeah, its still an arctic crap at the end of the day.

but hopefully its better. competition is good. keeps the ones on top (polaris) keeping things fresh and new. and better

im really waiting on what yamaha has coming out. tomorrow is supposed to be a big announcement

SBA you are right, this will push others to up their game.

SBA800
06-10-2013, 08:28 PM
yamaha will never break into the sport side by side industry, unless they have something super insane, priced very very competitively.

and even then, will take a while before it takes off as it will need real world testing and feedback

NickPic83
06-10-2013, 08:58 PM
agreed but u gotta start some where. just think about when the RZR 1st came out. 1st sport sxs and more expensive than other ohv's. now companies are in a race to build the biggest and fastest sport sxs and the price tag keeps goin up and people keep buying...

SBA800
06-10-2013, 10:32 PM
haha yep. i dont think anyone will knock polaris off the top spot though. they got a pretty firm grip on the market.

NickPic83
06-11-2013, 06:40 AM
we will see. i will say one thing, polaris does seem to step it up a little every year and have more models than anyone else. they got 170, 570, 800, 800 S, RZR4, XP, XP4, XP jagged edge and LE models for almost every one. im actually looking for a used 170 for my sons or i might just get a pitster double X LE or wait for the 200 that is coming out soon...

SBA800
06-11-2013, 12:04 PM
yep, they got a version for everyone. the 570 and 800 are great for trail riders, as they are the same width as most trails limit the width at. so they are trailable. the s and 900 models are to wide. as are the widlcat, and i think the canams are to wide as well

NickPic83
06-11-2013, 12:19 PM
My S just fits some tight trails. Not crazy about how tippy the standard 800 feels...

SBA800
06-11-2013, 12:26 PM
haha a guy i know rolled his 570 due to its skinny ness.
broke his arm.

he is now making it wider. i wouldnt like the skinny ones either. but some trails are only legal to ride skinny ones on.

NickPic83
06-11-2013, 07:19 PM
yeah i was looking into the 800 LE but i just knew i wouldnt leave it skinny. it just dont handle like i feel a "sport" machine should. so i went with the S-LE plus that let me get the fox podium shocks

o yeah 6PM Pacific time yamaha makes the big announcement, supposedly their new SXS...

SBA800
06-11-2013, 07:43 PM
heard from a guy in the business between now and the next 3 years yamaha will be making 100-150 new/updated product announcements. sounds like their gonna be doing a lot in the next while

NickPic83
07-04-2013, 07:07 AM
I got mine so my kids can ride with me safely. Also my back is all jacked up so it's much easier to ride for me and not be crippled the next day

Haha yeah, I know a few people who have them due to bad backs. It's a nice way to still get out there and have fun without the pain.

NickPic83
07-04-2013, 07:54 AM
That's my thought exactly

I'll admit it, you don't have that free feeling like you do on a bike or quad. But they are still very fun. Not many long traveled quads either.

SBA800
07-04-2013, 08:05 PM
My sled is long travel, kinda lol. Not really but it's got a lot of travel.

It definitely wouldn't be the same kind of fun as a quad/bike, but it would still be fun as hell.

Maxx2893
07-05-2013, 12:50 PM
What kinda travel does it have? And how do you measure that? From the front of the track, back, middle?

SBA800
07-05-2013, 03:10 PM
Skis have 9" of travel, and rear has 15" of travel.

My guess is you just measure the distance the shock can move.

Maxx2893
07-05-2013, 04:20 PM
Dang, that's a lot more than I woulda thought. Maybe a snowmobiles. I know you can't do that on a lot of vehicles though. Most TT's have 36" in the rear. They use 18" travel shocks.

SBA800
07-05-2013, 04:23 PM
Yeah I have no idea how one would go about measuring it in the rear. Such a long track that it will be different in the front than in the very back.

Maybe measure in the middle. No idea haha.

Maxx2893
07-05-2013, 04:48 PM
Yeah that would be pretty hard. The other thing is, 2 sleds that have the same suspension set up, one has long track and one has short, measure from the rear will be completely different numbers.

SBA800
07-05-2013, 06:00 PM
yeah not sure how that would work.

all I know is it floats over bumps when its set up for it lol

Maxx2893
07-05-2013, 07:31 PM
Nice! Always wanted to ride one. Never had a chance to.

SBA800
07-05-2013, 09:09 PM
you gotta man, its by far the best type of offroading there is imo.

the freedom of sledding is just fantastic. if theres snow, you can go.

anywhere. as long as you know, you dont trespass in peoples yards and shit lol.

Maxx2893
07-05-2013, 09:30 PM
I'll do it sometime, just gotta find somewhere to do it. Not very available in Texas.

SBA800
07-05-2013, 10:41 PM
Haha yeah I can't imagine it would be doable in Texas lol.

Maxx2893
07-06-2013, 10:13 AM
Do the work in the mud? Lol. We don't get snow every year, usually every other. And when we do, it's like an inch or 2

SBA800
07-06-2013, 05:06 PM
Lol they work anywhere really. Just not well in many places aside from snow lll
