anyone else excited for winter?

personally, I cant wait till the snow starts flying. hopefully this year will not be a joke like last years!

resident of nu 09-24-2012 02:38 PM

We have started snowing here where I am, still not enough for my snowmachine. Wait a couple more weeks and I'm all set to go, probably start doing the seasonal preps for my snowmachine sometime this week.

SBA800 09-24-2012 02:48 PM

where bouts do you live?

resident of nu 09-24-2012 02:55 PM

I live in Resolute Bay, Nunavut. Canada

SBA800 09-24-2012 02:56 PM

nice! i bet you guys have tons of snow in the middle of winter

resident of nu 09-24-2012 03:10 PM

yeah we get quite a bit of snow. its usually very hard snow, compacts it self by high winds and cold temps i geuss. we even make igloos out of it but no longer lived in since we all live in building now lol.

SBA800 09-24-2012 03:12 PM

hahaha yeah.
where i am theres lots of hard packed to. as its mostly open fields and crazy windy.

few spots its surrounded by trees for some nice soft stuff.

Being as I love to be on the water I can't stand it, lol. As long as the water and frozen and the ramp aint snowed in I can deal with it though. When it get's into the 20's it starts to get tough for me. Think the coldest I boated in was in the low to mid 20's. There was a time I used to ATV a lot but my area has gotten very populated and many areas are off limits now so it got to expensive for me.

SBA800 10-09-2012 09:14 PM

yikes thats pretty cold to be out boating!

ive never really gotten into water sports. used to go boating lots, but just never really grabbed my attention as much as snowmobiling has.

nosbusa 10-10-2012 11:03 AM

you know im coming to your place this winter 6.2. you better get an extra sled ready for me....

SBA800 10-10-2012 01:38 PM

ha. you can have my old one that catches fire.

nosbusa 10-10-2012 01:59 PM

not a problem, i can roll it a few times to put the fire out

SBA800 10-10-2012 02:05 PM

just bail off full throttle when its aimed at a snowbank.

i doubt that thing would even start up.

nosbusa 10-11-2012 01:24 AM

sure, give me the broken one......

SBA800 10-11-2012 10:21 AM

well, yeah. lol aint got nothin else for ya. doubt my bro would let a stranger use his.

nosbusa 10-11-2012 10:42 AM

ever cross open water on your sled?

SBA800 10-11-2012 11:18 AM

nooooooo
and i never will.
not my new one anyways.

ive seen guys do it, in fact someone just recently crossed a river in my province, wide river, huge waves, was pretty sketchy but he made it.

nosbusa 10-11-2012 11:44 AM

SBA800 10-13-2012 09:46 PM

nah it melted the day after it snowed lol.
out east where they got 18" i think they still have some though.
probably not much after today, was pretty warm

nosbusa 10-14-2012 01:05 PM

its supposed to get stupidly hot again here this week. more 90's temps for a couple days

89suburban 10-14-2012 07:00 PM

Where you at hoss? I am in SE PA. Had some 30 MPH winds blow through and it warmed up. Rain tomorrow then 60/40's for the rest of the week.

nosbusa 10-14-2012 10:04 PM

Yes, and the fuel pumps.

nosbusa 10-15-2012 07:47 PM

no doubt. still paying $4.65 for gas here now

SBA800 10-15-2012 09:31 PM

winter will be expensive. sled needs 91 premium.
its sitting at $5.10/gal which is pretty cheap. gas went down a ton recently.

87 used to be around $4.80/gal its now at $4.56/gal
its awesome.

nosbusa 10-15-2012 09:38 PM

i just hope it goes down more. stupid government taking a shitload of taxes

SBA800 10-15-2012 09:43 PM

i hope it goes down as well. but i know as soon as it gets real cold, gas is goin up a lot.
cause fools like to idle and the gas companies love that.

i dont even care though. screw it i wanna ride. sat on my sled today after dropping off a can of gas for it. cant freakin wait.

nosbusa 10-15-2012 09:54 PM

is it open to ride up there? or do you have to go to an ohv rec area?

SBA800 10-15-2012 09:59 PM

pretty much ride wherever you want, as long as you have permission to ride on private land. they groom trails all over the province, which you need a permit to ride, but other than that, free to roam wherever you please. rivers, lakes, all fair game.
and any crown land is also fair game. pretty much, ride wherever you want. cept the city... they dont like that to much lol

nosbusa 10-15-2012 10:13 PM

do you speak from experience on that last one? in nevada something like 80% of the land is blm, so if its not fenced in, it free to roam. we did that during the reno raptor run. i would like to do that in the snow as well

SBA800 10-15-2012 10:40 PM

haha no, but when i lived in the city we had a neighbour that would rip up and down the street. cops showed up and impounded his sled.

and yeah, its awesome being able to roam wherever you want. even on private land where i am its all good since we all know eachother. as long as we stay off the fields with winter crops in its all good.
